Dexter's owner moved from Victoria several years ago, unaware that ferrets were not welcome in Queensland. Airline staff were aware that he was travelling with a ferret and did not inform him of the laws.
Dexter was relocated to WA in 2003, when his owner became fearful that Dexter would be put to sleep by authorities.
He is greatly missed.
